Johann Mederitsch
Johann Georg Anton Mederitsch, named Gallus-Mederitsch (baptised 27. Dezember 1752 in Wien; † 18. Dezember 1835 in Lemberg), was an Austrian composer, conductor and teacher.
Mederitsch, Johann, called Gallus was a notable pianist as well. He has written some operettes with success in Vienna as „Der Schlosser“, 1783, – „Der Seefahrer“, – „Die Rekruten“, both in 1794, – „Der letzte Rausch“, Operette in zwei Acten; – „Macbeth“.
„Die Pyramiden Babylons“, or „Der zweite Theil der Zauberflöte“. 1st Act was composed by Mederitsch. THe 2nd Act was composed by Winter.
World Premiere 23. October 1797 @ Schikaneder’schen Theater in Vienna, and the vocal score was published in Vienna in 1798, same year as well @ André in Leipzig.

by the composition of Mederitsch (1st act) and Peter von Winter (2nd act) Schikaneder hat a great financial success with this opera which had 64 performances from 1797-10-25 until 1801. Nevertheless one critic was desolate for Mederitsch….

„Die Pyramiden Babylons“, oder „Der zweite Theil der Zauberflöte“. Erster Act. Den zweiten Act componirte Winter. Die Oper wurde am 23. October 1797 zum ersten Male auf dem Schikaneder’schen Theater in Wien gegeben, und Mederitsch’s erster wie Winter’s zweiter Act zusammen erschienen im Clavierauszuge im Stiche zu Wien im Jahre 1798, im nämlichen Jahre noch bei André in Leipzig.
